Fry Wins Three Gold Awards in the Annual Gold Ink Awards Competition

Mechanicsburg, PA — 8/22/13 — Fry Communications is pleased to announce that the company has won ten Gold Ink Awards, including three Gold Awards, in the 26th Annual Gold Ink Awards Competition co-sponsored by industry magazines Publishing Executive, Printing Impressions, and Book Business. In addition to the three Gold Awards, Fry won one Silver, one Bronze, and five Pewter Awards.

The three Gold Award winners all featured decorative cover effects produced with Fry’s custom press. Bound by Ink (Issue 13), published by Source Interlink Media, took Gold in the Web Specialty Magazines category, and featured spot UV gloss on the cover. Navigating the U.S. Employment-Based Immigration System, published by the Society for Human Resource Management, took Gold in the Manuals category, and featured embossing, glitter coating, UV gloss coating, and reticulated varnish on the cover. The 2013 SafeRack Catalog, published by Six Axis LLC, took Gold in the Web Business Catalogs category, and featured UV gloss, reticulated varnish, emboss, die cut and dull UV varnish on the cover.

The Hollywood Reporter, Dec 14, 2012 Issue, published by Prometheus Global Media, earned Bronze in the Web Trade Magazines category. Fry earned Silver in the Sheetfed Brochures category for the company’s own Wow!Factory Sample Book.

Fry also received five Pewter Awards for the following pieces: Sonic Super Special #6, published by Archie Comic Publications, in the Softcover Books category; the Atlantic Coast Cotton Printable Sportswear Catalog 2013, published by Atlantic Coast Cotton, in the Web Business Catalog category; The Right Stuff Catalog 2013, published by The Right Stuff Detailing, in the Web Business Catalogs category; InStyle May 2013 Cover, published by Time, Inc., in the Magazine Covers category; and the Billboard Year End Issue 2013, published by Prometheus Global Media, in the Web Trade Magazines category.

Winning pieces surpassed their competitors based on print quality, technical difficulty and overall visual effect. A panel of distinguished graphic arts professionals judged entries over the course of four days. Winners will be honored during the PRINT 13 Show in Chicago.
