FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTION: Do I need to fill out this practice gap section if my session is about education (or research)?

ANSWER: Yes, everyone should fill out the Professional Practice Gap section.



QUESTION: Can I have more that the number of speakers as outlined on the proposal, is there a limit?

ANSWER: If you need to include more than 8 presenters on your proposal form, please contact Linda Saunders (Lsaunders@americangeriatrics.org) to discuss.

QUESTION: I want to include a speaker who is not an AGS member on my session. Would he/she have to pay to register for the meeting?

ANSWER: The AGS will provide complimentary meeting registration to speakers who are not AGS members and who would not otherwise attend the AGS Annual Meeting.



QUESTION: Do speakers get reimbursed?

ANSWER: The AGS will reimburse travel expenses based on the following criteria:

  • If the speaker is an “Invited Guest” who is not an AGS member and would not otherwise attend the AGS Annual meeting. In this case, the speaker is an expert in the field and his/her presentation will enhance the program significantly
  • If the speaker is presenting on a session that is supported by an educational grant


QUESTION: What do you mean by MTS?

ANSWER: An MTS is a Meal Time Symposium. These are breakfast, lunch or dinner sessions that are supported by an educational grant from an industry supporter. You should only submit a proposal for an MTS if you have a commitment from an industry supporter and you must include a letter of intent from the industry supporter along with the proposal submission



QUESTION: What is a workshop?

ANSWER: A workshop is a hands-on session that emphasizes the exchange of ideas and the demonstration and application of techniques and skills. The audience size may be limited to accommodate the workshop format.
